BATON ROUGE – For the third year in a row, members of the LSU Soccer team have been honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for their outstanding academic performance with the NSCAA Team Academic Award while maintaining a 3.35 cumulative team grade-point average during the 2013-14 academic year.
The Tigers were also honored with the NSCAA Team Academic Award in 2011-12 with a 3.21 team GPA and a year ago in 2012-13 with a 3.05 team GPA for their outstanding academic performance.
The NSCAA announced Monday morning that a total of 861 college soccer programs have been honored as award recipients this year after posting a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the past year. That includes 279 men’s programs and 582 women’s programs honored for their academic efforts in 2013-14.
The NSCAA has honored 12 of the SEC’s 14 women’s soccer programs with this year’s team award as the Tigers join the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt in Monday’s announcement.
