Briana Holman, MB, 6-1, So., DeSoto, Texas
Put together her 12th match of the season with at least 15 or more kills by powering home 18 in a win at Texas A&M to extend LSU’s season-long winning streak to 10  matches. Holman averaged 3.60 kills per set, combining for 10 in the second and third sets alone to finish hitting .444 on the night, the 11th time this year that the DeSoto, Texas, native has hit .400 or better in a match. Came a dig shy of tying her career high with four, while blocking two shots against the Aggies.

Nomination for SEC Defensive Player of the Week

Haley Smith, DS, 5-4, Jr., Meraux, Louisiana
Helped lead a defense that held Texas A&M 62 points below its season hitting average, while LSU hit .305 in a five-set win over the Aggies to improve the Tigers’ winning streak to 10 consecutive matches. Smith had her seventh 20-plus dig match of the year, corralling at match-high 22 against Texas A&M, averaging 4.40 per set, earning five digs in three of the five sets on the night, as Texas A&M hit just .192 against LSU. Smith also served up four assists and had a service ace, while earning a perfect passer rating for the tenth time this season.

Mimi Eugene, OH, 6-0, Fr., Houston, Texas
Earned the first double-double of her LSU career to help the Tigers extend their winning streak to 10-straight matches with 15 kills and 13 digs in a win over Texas A&M on the road. Eugene averaged three kills per set and over two digs per set, tying her career high in kills, earning 11 in the final three sets, while setting a new one in digs against the Aggies, including having six in the opening frame which was the most for any LSU player individually in any set.

Notes on the Tigers
LSU is 15-7 on the season and 10-3 in SEC play after defeating the Texas A&M Aggies in College Station last week. LSU played only one match last week having played 13 league matches already this season. The Tigers are currently on a 10-match winning streak, the longest streak for the team since the 2010 season and is the second longest currently in the SEC. The Tigers are receiving votes in the latest AVCA Top 25 coaches poll for the first time since the opening week of the season. LSU is on the longest conference winning streak since 1992, and is only the second team in program history other than that squad to win double-digit league matches in a row. The Tigers are hitting .285 during the streak, while holding opponents to a .193 average during that same span. LSU holds a 30-10 sets advantage since the beginning of October. LSU has won double-digit SEC matches for the first time since the 2011 season and the eighth time under head coach Fran Flory. With the win, LSU has guaranteed itself a second consecutive winning season and 13th since 1998. LSU has won seven matches on the road for the second consecutive year and fifth time in the last six years. Since 2009, LSU has combined to earn 44 road victories. Last Thursday’s match was the second consecutive five-setter the Tigers have played in the last two weeks, as LSU is 5-1 in matches going the distance this season. Over the last nine years, LSU has won 41 of its 54 five-set matches. The win over the Aggies was the first this season over a team receiving votes at the time of the match this year. The Tigers have won each of the last two matches in College Station in the recent series history. Although LSU has dropped the first set in each of the last three matches, LSU has improved to 6-6 on the season when dropping the first set. The Tigers are 8-6 when going into the intermission tied at 1-1 with an opponent, improving to 7-0 when holding a 2-1 lead in a match. The Tigers won their third night match of the season and their first win on a Thursday this year. LSU hit .305 against Texas A&M, improving to 5-0 when hitting .300 or better in matches this year, as all five have come during the team’s winning streak. LSU is a combined 11-0 when hitting .250 or better in matches on the year. The team’s .591 average in the third set is the best for the team in a single set this season. The Tigers have outhit each of their last nine opponents. The 67 kills the team had in the match is tied for the second most on the year, and the third time they’ve had that many on the year in a match. LSU is 6-0 when having 60 or more kills in a match. The Tigers have recorded fewer attacking errors in three of their last five matches. LSU had its fourth match with at least 60 team assists with 64. The 79 digs against Texas A&M is a team season high for LSU, the third time the team has had 70-plus in a match this season. Texas A&M was the fifth team LSU has held below. 200 in a set in the last 10, holding a 7-0 record in matches when doing so. LSU had four players finish with double-digit kills for the second time this season and first time since the win at Kentucky. Briana Holman led all players with 18 kills and hit .444 in the win over Texas A&M, averaging 3.60 kills per set. Mimi Eugene earned her first collegiate double-double with 15 kills and 13 digs, finishing with four assists and an ace. Cati Leak finished with 10 kills and led all players with three service aces to go along with nine digs and four assists. Gina Tillis came off the bench to put away 10 kills, while adding two digs and two blocks. Malorie Pardo served up 49 assists, hitting .545 with seven kills, while earning the double-double with a season-high 19 assists. Pardo also led the team with three blocks and had two aces. Haley Smith was one of four LSU players to finish with double figure digs, earning her seventh match with 20-plus digs with 22. Katie Lindelow earned her seventh double-digit dig match of the season with 10, finishing with an assist and service ace.
