The Lady Tigers picked up a 93-71 exhibition victory over Loyola on Wednesday. Head coach Nikki Caldwell is looking to see improvement on the defensive end in both LSU’s matchup zone and man-to-man sets between the two exhibition games.

“We’ve got new faces here, but we are going to have to continue to work at our matchup (zone) and at our man (defense) …,” Caldwell said. “I think this team could really change it up. I think we could be that team that extends our defense – then comes back and be a delay, disrupt type of defensive team as well.”

On the offensive end, Jenna Deemer exploded for 26 points sparked by a 7-for-10 shooting effort which included five three-pointers. She also was 7-of-8 at the foul line in addition to four rebounds and two steals over her 26 minutes of action.

Deemer was one of four players to reach double figures. Raigyne Moncrief secured an impressive all-around effort with 15 points, eight rebounds, six steals and five assists. DaShawn Harden and Rina Hill chipped in 11 points apiece. Harden also passed out seven assists.

Akilah Bethel, Alliyah Fareo and Anne Pedersen each tallied eight points. Bethel and Fareo combined for 15 rebounds as the Lady Tigers racked up a 50-34 rebounding advantage against Loyola.

LSU connected on 33-of-67 from the floor and made of its final 28 field goals over the final 16 minutes of the game where the Lady Tigers scored 49 of the game’s final 76 points.
