BATON ROUGE, La. – Members of LSU’s various sports teams contributed their time and efforts for the department’s annual Halloween BOOzar, which was held on Sunday afternoon in Baton Rouge.
The student-athletes, along with the help of the Shaquille O’Neal Life-Skills Program, catered to more than 700 children and their parents throughout the hour-plus extravaganza, with all of it taking place outside of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
“We love to reach out to the community, and tell kids about what we do and inspire them,” LSU sophomore gymnast Shae Zamardi said.
The student-athletes on hand, many dressed up in their favorite Halloween costumes, taking photos, painting faces and playing various games throughout much of the event. Many then stayed on hand afterword and went inside the PMAC to cheer on the LSU volleyball team in the Tigers’ 3-1 win over Georgia.
The Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes is a 54,000 square foot facility comprised of academic affairs, student affairs and an information technology teams, serving more than 530 student-athletes. The purpose is to provide an all-inclusive, student-centered support structure for all student-athletes from matriculation, through graduation and life beyond.
