Women’s Hoops Tabbed Seventh in SEC Media Poll

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Coming off three straight 20-win seasons and consecutive NCAA Sweet 16 appearances, the LSU women’s basketball team was selected to a seventh place finish in the 2014-15 SEC preseason media poll which was released Tuesday by the league office.

Defending SEC champion, South Carolina, was picked to repeat with 210 points. The Gamecocks were followed by Tennessee (191), Texas A&M (179), Kentucky (154), Vanderbilt (150), Georgia (132) and LSU (122) to round out the top half of the conference.

Points were compiled on a 14-13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis. Each media member also voted for a five-player All-SEC Team and the Preseason SEC Player of the Year. The Lady Tigers did not have a player chosen on the All-SEC Team.

The 2014-15 SEC Media Preseason Poll has been released as part of SEC Tipoff 2014-15 where the Lady Tigers are taking their turn on Tuesday at the SEC Network/ESPNU Studios and Ballantyne Hotel in Charlotte, N.C.

The Lady Tigers will host a pair of exhibition games against Loyola at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5 and Mississippi College at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9. Following its exhibition contest on Nov. 9, LSU with Club South Runners will hold a 5K Banana Relay/Walk. Registration information is available at http://lsul.su/1o3H6aX.
