Come Out to ‘Bayou Madness’ Friday Night

BATON ROUGE – The LSU men’s and women’s basketball teams will get to show off and visit with their fans Friday night as the second Bayou Madness takes place at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Admission is free. Activities will begin outside at 6:45 p.m. with a pep rally on the south pad of the Maravich Center. Handicap parking for the event is located in parking lot 105 next to the Natatorium and tennis practice courts. Shuttle service from this lot will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end an hour after the event concludes.

There will be a kid’s zone outside the Maravich Center with inflatables, face painters and a photo booth for kids of all ages.

On-court activities will start at 7:30 p.m. as both the 2014-15 Tigers and Lady Tigers will be introduced by emcees Derek Ponamsky of Guaranty Broadcasting and Emily Dixon of LSUsports.net and Cox Sports TV.

Both teams are expected to scrimmage during the evening with a three-point shooting contest and the return of the dunk contest, hoping for some of the same spectacular efforts that highlighted last year’s event.

The students on hand will be able to take part in a 2-ball contest with the winners sharing in $1,000 and Coach Johnny Jones hinted at Wednesday’s media day that LSU president Dr. F. King Alexander, a noted basketball shooter himself, may come on to the court to challenge the winners.

Students will be able to sign up for the 2-ball contest before the event in the Roar Zone where there will also be a DJ and a Roar Zone Dance Party. Following the event, the players from both teams will sign autographs and visit with those on hand.
