BATON ROUGE – Junior Morgan Schuetz finished 29th to help the Lady Tigers place ninth in the 5k course, while the men finished 13th in the 8k course at the Chile Pepper Festival.
The Lady Tigers finished with a total of 280 points, while the Lady Razorbacks defended their home turf to win the Chile Pepper Festival with a total of 16 points.
Schuetz led the Tigers and crossed the finish line with a time of 17 minutes and 22.1 seconds. Sophomore Chaiss Matthews followed clocking 17:56.3 to place 60th.
The men finished with 335 points for 13th place with junior Travis Pope leading the way for the Tigers. Pope clocked 25:22.8 for a 60th-place finish. Senior Philip Primeaux crossed the line shortly after Pope with a time of 25:32.3 for a 69th- place finish. The Razorbacks finished first with 51 points.
A total of 20 teams competed in the 8k course including the Tigers, while the women raced against 17 other teams in the 5k course.
After competing in Fayetteville, the Tigers and Lady Tigers will travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Oct. 17 to compete in the Crimson Classic.
