ISTANBUL, TURKEY – Seimone Augustus and the 2014 USA Basketball Women’s National Team posted a trio of convincing victories over China (87-56), Serbia (94-74) and Angola (119-44) earlier this week to finish pool play undefeated at the 2014 FIBA World Championships held in Istanbul, Turkey.

Augustus registered 11.3 points per game which is third on Team USA and tied for 17th for the tournament. She turned in 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting during the USA’s record-setting 75-point win over Angola. Over the first three games, Augustus is 16-of-29 from the floor and connected on 55.2 percent of her field goal attempts. She also averaged 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. 

Team USA continues its quest for its ninth gold medal at the FIBA World Championships and meets France in Friday’s quarterfinal round. Tip time is slated for 1:05 p.m. CT. The game will be televised by NBA-TV and http://www.watchespn.com/.

Augustus won gold medals at the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics. She also collected a bronze medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championships. 

LSU has secured three consecutive 20-plus win seasons and three NCAA Tournament appearances highlighted by back-to-back NCAA Sweet 16 trips under Caldwell. The Lady Tigers will host a pair of exhibition games against Loyola at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5 and Mississippi College at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9.
