BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – LSU men’s tennis junior Chris Simpson was named SEC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week on Wednesday after winning five consecutive singles and doubles matches since Feb. 8.
Simpson is 6-1 in singles with his lone loss coming from the current No. 15 singles player in a hard-fought three-set match. Simpson and doubles partner Boris Arias are 7-1, and their only loss is a 6-4 fight with the current No. 5 doubles team.
Simpson and Arias defeated the No. 13 doubles team on February 21 and the No. 26 team on February 9 and climbed in the rankings to No. 20 in the February 25 ITA rankings.
LSU returns to action on Friday when the Tigers host No. 25 Kentucky and UNO for a doubleheader. The Tigers are also home on Sunday to welcomes No. 14 Vanderbilt to Baton Rouge.
