BATON ROUGE – In front of a strong contingent of supporters inside the LSU gymnastics practice facility on Friday, the Tigers completed a successful first intrasquad meet of fall practice as the Gold team defeated the Purple team, 196.075-195.575.

Each team consisted of five gymnasts in each lineup with all scores counting toward the team total, and both squads showed off impressive performances in the first big competition of the fall.

“We added the dimension of pressure by inviting guests to watch the intrasquad, and the ladies rose to the occasion,” Breaux said. “It was everything we wanted it to be. Sarie Morrison and Kaleigh Dickson gave us great senior leadership. Rheagan Courville, Jessie Jordan and Lloimincia Hall produced fantastic scores, and Ashleigh Gnat stepped up and performed well and pushed the upperclassmen to work harder.

“I am really pleased with the effort and tenacity our ladies are showing every day, and we have to build off this performance and get better.”

Gold team’s Jordan led the way with a 39.600 all-around, capturing the title after scoring 9.95’s on vault and beam, a 9.90 on bars and a 9.80 on floor.

Dickson added a 39.325 all-around total and Hall produced a 39.275 all-around to help lead the Gold team to victory. Dickson’s high score was a 9.85 on floor while Hall recorded a 9.875 on vault and 9.85’s on beam and floor.

Courville finished second in the all-around and led the Purple squad with a 39.575 total, highlighted by a 9.925 on bars and 9.90 on floor. Courville also scored a 9.875 on vault and beam.

Gnat earned third place in the all-around with a 39.450 for the Purple team. Gnat’s high score was a 9.90 on floor, and she also scored a 9.875 on her yurchenko double full vault.

Randii Wyrick competed in the all-around for the Purple squad as she produced a 39.175, highlighted by a 9.90 on bars and a 9.85 on beam.

Morrison earned a 9.90 on vault and 9.875 on bars to help lead the Gold team to victory. Britney Ranzy contributed a 9.85 on bars and 9.825 on beam as well for the Gold.

Senior Casey Duvall nailed her routine for a 9.90 as the top beam score for the Purple squad, and she also recorded a 9.85 on floor.

Head coach D-D Breaux, associate head coach Jay Clark and assistant coach Bob Moore created a lineup prior to the intrasquad that would count the top five scores from the six overall gymnasts that would be in the competition lineup for a regular season meet, regardless of which split squad they were on in the intrasquad. After adding the top five scores from those gymnasts in each event, that lineup would have tallied a 197.475.

The Tigers return to fall practice with a light workout Saturday. LSU opens the season on Jan. 10 as the Tigers host Centenary at 7 p.m. CT inside the Maravich Center.
