BATON ROUGE – The popular national soccer website TopDrawerSoccer.com released its inaugural list of the Top 100 freshmen in women’s college soccer for the 2013 season, and LSU’s rookie trio of Summer Clarke, Emma Fletcher and Megan Lee were each ranked among the Top 50 freshmen nationally with their performance through 14 matches.
Clarke is the No. 11-ranked freshman in the country for 2013, while Fletcher is ranked No. 26 and Lee is ranked No. 50 in the inaugural TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 100 Freshmen list announced Wednesday.
A world-class striker from Richmond, British Columbia, Canada, Clarke is the team’s leading scorer this season with eight goals and 19 points on the campaign. Clarke signed with the Tigers in the wake of a brilliant youth career as a Canadian international as one of the more heralded strikers to join the NCAA Division I ranks in the Class of 2013.
Fletcher has certainly delivered on her reputation as an elite attacking midfielder as she tops the SEC scoring charts this year with a team-leading 10 assists through 14 matches. She has added one goal for 12 points as a leader in the attack for the Tigers. Fletcher continues her development in Baton Rouge following her youth career as both a Canadian and New Zealand international.
A fellow New Zealand international in her own right, Lee has proven herself as one of the more versatile Tigers this season while seeing time as a forward, midfielder and defender in her eight appearances.
A native of Massey, Auckland, New Zealand, Lee suffered an ankle injury in LSU’s preseason exhibition match with Nicholls State, but has recovered to feature in each of the team’s last eight games while scoring a goal and dishing out three assists for five points on the campaign.
