BATON ROUGE – After wrapping up its first full week of preseason training with an evening session on Tuesday night, the LSU Soccer program cracked its second Top 25 national ranking of the preseason as the No. 25-ranked team in the country with the release of the TopDrawerSoccer.com Preseason Top 25 on Wednesday morning.
LSU’s No. 25 national ranking by TopDrawerSoccer.com comes one week after earning a No. 22 national ranking in the BennettRank NCAA Division I Women’s College Soccer Preseason Ranking on Aug. 7.
The Tigers are among three Southeastern Conference programs ranked among the Top 25 teams in the country by TopDrawerSoccer.com as they join No. 12 Florida and No. 13 Texas A&M in the preseason ranking.
Also cracking the Top 10 of the TopDrawerSoccer.com Preseason Top 25 are the BYU Cougars as the No. 9-ranked team in the country. The Cougars also earned a No. 10 national ranking in the preseason Top 25 ranking announced on Tuesday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, as well as a No. 20 national ranking this preseason by BennettRank.
LSU will play host to BYU on Monday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. CT as the highlight to a strong eight-game non-conference schedule before the start of SEC play. BYU is coming off of an impressive 2012 season as the champions of the Big West Conference with a sparkling 20-2-2 overall record. The Cougars also earned a No. 1 national seed and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament a year ago.
