BATON ROUGE – Members of the LSU Soccer program took time out of their training schedule on Sunday afternoon to spend time with their outstanding fans as part of this year’s “Fan Day” festivities as they joined the football and volleyball teams and the cheerleading squad for an afternoon of fun at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

The doors opened at 3:30 p.m. CT and LSU’s soccer stars signed autographs and spent time with their fans from 4-5 p.m. ahead of their evening training session at the LSU Soccer Stadium.

After reporting to campus on Tuesday for the start of preseason training, the Tigers have already taken part in their annual preseason fitness test along with seven training sessions to date in preparation for this year’s regular season. They will play host to Nicholls State in an exhibition on Friday at 7 p.m. CT followed by their 2013 season opener against Louisiana Tech on Friday, Aug. 23, at 7 p.m., at the LSU Soccer Stadium.

“It’s sad knowing that this was my last Fan Day as a student-athlete here,” said senior midfielder Alex Ramsey. “I was excited to watch the freshmen and some of the younger players because it’s their first time getting a chance to experience how much LSU means to so many people. I think Fan Day is a great way for them to really learn the culture and meet the wonderful people of Louisiana.

“Meeting so many great people today makes us work even harder as a team to represent those people and our state and school. It’s been great training this week in my last preseason, and seeing how all of the pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together. We have great experience on this team, but we also have some great new players who are really helping us to define this team and our style of play.”
