BATON ROUGE – LSU gymnasts Rheagan Courville, Lloimincia Hall and Sarie Morrison earned First-Team Regular Season All-America status, the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) announced Tuesday.
A sophomore from Baton Rouge, Courville earned First-Team All-America honors on vault and the all-around, and she picked up second-team honors on beam.
A junior from Dallas, Morrison was named a First-Team All-American on bars, and Hall was honored as a First-Team All-American on floor.
This season marks the first year of Regular Season All-America honors. All-Americans were determined by a gymnast’s final regional qualifying score at the end of the regular season. The top eight gymnasts on each event and the all-around received first-team status, and the gymnasts ranked 9-16 were honored as second-team selections.
A sophomore from Dallas, Hall ranked No. 1 on floor in the final standings with a 9.950 RQS, while Morrison ranked No. 8 on bars with a 9.915 RQS. Courville ranked No. 5 on vault at 9.940, No. 7 in the all-around with a 39.555 RQS and No. 11 on beam at 9.895.
Courville now has five All-America honors as she earned first-team status on vault and the all-around as a freshman last season.
Morrison and Hall are each two-time All-Americans as Morrison picked up second-team recognition on bars and Hall earned second-team honors on floor at the NCAA Championships last season.
Gymnasts will still be able to collect All-America honors at the NCAA Championships, which has been the traditional way to become an All-American. Gymnasts who finish No. 1-4 in an event or the all-around (including ties) in each semifinal session on April 19 will earn First-Team All-America status, while gymnastics who place 5-8 will become Second-Team All-America.
LSU has now earned 116 total All-America honors, including 68 first-team selections, since 1977.
No. 5 LSU (20-6) will be back in action in Semifinal I of the NCAA Championships in Los Angeles. The meet will begin at 2 p.m. CT on April 19 inside Pauley Pavilion on the campus of UCLA.
