BATON ROUGE – Following a dramatic SEC victory over No. 7 Ole Miss (11-5, 4-3 SEC), the LSU men’s tennis team (7-7, 2-4 SEC) are set for a doubleheader on Sunday, March 24 at the Dub against No. 12 Mississippi State (13-6, 3-4 SEC) at 1 p.m. CT and Nicholls State (7-8) at 6 p.m. CT.

“Mississippi State is a very good team,” head coach Jeff Brown said. “They’ve been playing well and they just beat Arkansas. We’ll have to play our very best, just like we did against Ole Miss. Our performance against Ole Miss might get it done, but it might have to be a little better.”

After starting off the 2013 season winning 12 of their first 14 matches, the Mississippi State Bulldogs dropped four straight matches, all to SEC foes. The Bulldogs picked up a 4-1 win in their last match over Arkansas on March 22.

The Tigers and the Bulldogs met earlier this year in the first round of the ITA Kick-Off Classic in Starkville, Miss., where Mississippi State picked up a 7-0 victory. LSU leads the all-time matchups 45-18-1.

Mississippi State features two ranked singles players with No. 18 Romain Bogaerts and No. 59 Malte Stropp. The Bulldogs also bring one of the best doubles pairs to Baton Rouge with No. 14 Jordan Angus and Stropp.

LSU and Nicholls State have met one time back in February 2006 where the Tigers defeated the Colonels 6-1.

Admission for the match is free and free crawfish will be served 45 minutes prior to the match.
