Notes on the Tigers
LSU split its matches for the second consecutive weekend as the Tigers came back to claim a 3-2 victory at Mississippi State followed by a four-set loss to SEC Western Division co-leader Arkansas. Madie Jones fueled LSU’s offense and produced 3.56 kills per set sparked by a season’s best 20 spikes during the five-set slugfest at Mississippi State. Helen Boyle chipped in a balanced 3.11 kills and 3.11 digs per set. She equaled a career-high 20 digs versus Mississippi State and registered 15 kills on a career-best .483 hitting percentage during the Arkansas match. Desiree Elliott was solid in all facets of the game and tacked on 3.00 kills to go along with 1.11 blocks per set. She hammered home 17 kills and added seven blocks in the comeback victory at Mississippi State. Malorie Pardo handed out 10.00 assists per set and reeled in a career-best 18 digs during the Mississippi State match. She had her run of four straight double-doubles come to a close at Arkansas. Sam Delahoussaye extended her streak to six straight matches at least 10 or more digs. She posted a career-best 33 digs at Mississippi State. The Madisonville native has secured her three highest dig totals over LSU’s last four matches dating back to Sept. 21. The Tigers turn the calendar to October where LSU will play seven of its next nine matches inside the friendly confines of the Maravich Center after playing 13 of its first 15 matches on the road. LSU squares off with Georgia as part of ESPNU’s Wednesday Night Volleyball at 6 p.m. CT before a Sunday tilt versus South Carolina at 1 p.m. CT.
