Volleyball Launches ‘PAWS in the PMAC’ Campaign

BATON ROUGE – The LSU volleyball program launched its “PAWS in the PMAC” campaign Tuesday for the 2012 season. The senior class of Sam Delahoussaye, Victoria Jacobsen, Madie Jones and Meghan Mannari created and championed the philanthropy project.

Fans have the opportunity to get involved and are asked to bring pet supplies to the fan zone at every home match starting with Friday’s tilt versus Kentucky and during all 10 SEC home matches at the Maravich Center. All items donated will benefit the Capital Area Animal Welfare Society.

Last year, LSU volleyball participated in the “Geaux Books” project where close to 3,000 books were collected to replenish the library at Dufrocq Elementary School.

“Our team has a special bond with animals, and this cause is close to our hearts” senior outside hitter Madie Jones said. “I know our fans will get behind us and make ‘PAWS in the PMAC’ a success. We’re so excited to do anything we can to help the Capital Area Animal Welfare Society.”

Last week, the entire team and members of the coaching staff wasted no time in serving the community. The Tigers volunteered their time for the Companion Animal Alliance, an animal shelter. LSU assisted the shelter in walking dogs and playing with the animals.

The Companion Animal Alliance focuses on humanely treating animals while searching for safe homes for the animals that are brought into the shelter.
