BATON ROUGE – The LSU Soccer team looks for its first Southeastern Conference victory of the season Sunday afternoon when it welcomes the Alabama Crimson Tide to Baton Rouge for an SEC West derby that is scheduled to kick off at 1:06 p.m. CT at the LSU Soccer Stadium.

The Tigers (4-2-2, 0-1 SEC) saw their four-game unbeaten streak snapped with a 1-0 defeat to the No. 10-ranked Texas A&M Aggies in their SEC opener on Friday night.

The Crimson Tide (5-2, 0-1) are also looking for their first league win of the campaign after dropping a 2-1 overtime decision to the 23rd-ranked Tennessee Lady Volunteers in Knoxville on Friday.

LSU will make its fourth television appearance of the season on Sunday afternoon as CSS Sports carries a key early-season SEC West showdown live beginning at 1 p.m. Cox Sports Television will show the CSS broadcast in the state of Louisiana on Channel 37 on Cox Communications, Channel 1037 on Cox Digital Cable and Channel 421 on DISH Network. Check local listings for CST in your area.

The CSS Sports broadcast will also be streamed live online at www.ESPN3.com as the Tigers will make a first appearance this season on the ESPN family of networks on Sunday afternoon.

Fans can also follow the action through LSU’s social media networks as live updates and coverage for the match is available by liking LSU Soccer on Facebook and following @LSUSoccer on Twitter. In addition to that, fans are invited to join the live in-game chat on the team’s official Facebook page.

Fans can “Geaux Free!” to Sunday’s SEC West derby at the LSU Soccer Stadium as the admission is free for each of the team’s six remaining home matches during the 2012 season.

The Crimson Tide feature a potent offensive attack that has scored 21 goals this season as they feature the SEC’s No. 2-ranked offense on the season. Freshman striker Katie Bourgeois is the league’s third-leading scorer with six goals during her rookie season, while sophomore midfielder Theresa Diederich has totaled four goals with junior Molly Atherton and sophomore Pia Rijsdijk netting three goals apiece.

Alabama leads the way with a 9-6-2 mark in a series that dates back to the 1995 season, but LSU owns an impressive six-game unbeaten streak in the series while closing the gap with a stellar 5-0-1 record in their last six meetings with the Crimson Tide going back to 2006.

That includes a 2-0 shutout by the Tigers in their last meeting in Tuscaloosa last year as LSU would go on to finish in second place in the final SEC standings with an 8-3 mark in league play.

After battling the Alabama Crimson Tide on Sunday afternoon, LSU will wrap up its 10-game homestand at the LSU Soccer Stadium next weekend as it plays host to the Auburn Tigers on Friday at 7 p.m. CT and the Kentucky Wildcats on Sunday, Sept. 23, at 1 p.m.
