BATON ROUGE – The LSU Student-Athletes started the year off with their annual Back to School Bash, hosted by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. SAAC President and senior volleyball player Madie Jones and junior swimmer Timmy Dasinger served as the emcees of the event.
After Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva welcomed the student-athletes back to campus, a short skit was performed by a group of student-athletes.
After the skit, student-athletes broke into teams, with multiple sports represented on each team and a member of SAAC as their captains.
The competition consisted of five stations: Dodgeball, Basketball Knockout, Corn Hole, Cookie Race and a Pie Eating Contest.
“The Back to School Bash is a fun way for all the student-athletes to get to see one another for the first time since school got out in the spring and to welcome everyone back to campus for another great year,” Jones said. “Timmy and I had a blast as the emcees. We were cracking jokes to each other the whole time. It was cool to watch everyone mingle and play games.”
After breaking a three-way tie by winning the dance-off, the Checkerboards, led by senior all-around gymnast Britney Taylor, were the victors of the event.
