BATON ROUGE – Not only will fans of the LSU Soccer program have the chance to see the Tigers square off against four SEC opponents on live television in 2012, but three non-conference games are also set for a live broadcast as part of Cox Sports Television’s coverage of one of the SEC’s elite programs.
The Tigers will be seen like never before as a program record seven regular-season fixtures will broadcast on live television, including six matches at the LSU Soccer Stadium.
Cox Sports Television will broadcast three home matches at the LSU Soccer Stadium featuring such clubs as NC State on Sunday, Aug. 26, at 1 p.m. CDT, Houston on Sunday, Sept. 2, at 1 p.m. and Memphis in the final non-conference game of the season on Monday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m.
This announcement comes just two weeks after the Southeastern Conference released its slate of games to air on live television as LSU matched Florida with a league-leading four conference matches being shown on SEC affiliates. Defending SEC champion South Carolina, Texas A&M and Mississippi State are ready for three broadcasts in conference play during the fall season.
ESPNU, which is available in more than 73 million households across the country, is set to broadcast four SEC regular-season matches this season. That includes LSU’s road match at Georgia on Sunday, Sept. 30, that is now set to kickoff at 3 p.m. CT at the Turner Soccer Complex in Athens.
ESPNU will also broadcast the championship match of the 2012 SEC Women’s Soccer Tournament at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Ala., live on Sunday, Nov. 4, beginning at 2:30 p.m. CT.
In addition, three SEC regular-season matches will air live from the LSU Soccer Stadium in Baton Rouge with an SEC West derby against the Alabama Crimson Tide leading the way on Sunday, Sept. 16, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. on CSS. SportSouth will also broadcast back-to-back home matches in Baton Rouge against Florida on Friday, Oct. 5, at 6:30 p.m. and Vanderbilt on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m.
