CCACSA’s Fingers Presents at Athlife Conference

BATON ROUGE – Dr. Earnie Fingers, Learning Specialist at the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes, recently participated in the third annual Athlife Foundation Conference for Secondary Education Professionals hosted in Alexandria, Virginia.

At the three-day conference, Fingers gave a presentation titled “Elements of Collegiate Level Support Programs and High School Parallels,” giving an overview of academic-athletic support programs.

“Dr. Fingers proved to be an invaluable addition to the third annual Athlife Conference for Secondary Education Professionals,” Athlife’s CEO Jon Harris said. “His perspective from working with the high school and collegiate student-athletes allowed for attendees who work with both respective populations to take away valuable insight and action items that will make them better when they return to work. Many thanks to LSU for their ongoing support of Athlife. We only hope that Dr. Fingers and LSU were able to draw as much from the other conference presenters and attendees as we did from him.”

The Athlife Foundation is a nonprofit organization that aspires to create partnerships between schools and school districts with businesses and corporations along with other potential donors.

“As an educator and former high school Athletic-Academic Coach, I greatly value opportunities to address high school coaches, advisors, teachers, and administrators,” Fingers said. “These individuals possess a great opportunity to adequately prepare students before they reach our college campuses.  Representing LSU and the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes at the Athlife Foundation Conference was indeed an appreciated honor. The training and preparation delivered by Athlife at this Conference served to reinforce a philosophy that is focused on positive youth development through sport.  It feels good to present at a conference that produces measurable results within our high schools, both on and off of the field.”
