Dahlke Participates in Marine Corps Workshop

BATON ROUGE – Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes Academic Advisor Matthew Dahlke was selected to attend the Marine Corps Officer Selection Officer’s Educators’ Workshop held from June 25-29 in Quantico, Va.

“I am honored and privileged for the opportunity to attend the Marine Corps Officer Selection Educators’ Workshop,” Dahlke said. “I have a great appreciation for the hard work and discipline that the United State Marine Corps exemplify. I hope to bring the knowledge and experiences I gather back to Baton Rouge to help our team and student-athletes in achieving their goals and earning their degrees.”

The Workshop is an annual awareness program to inform college educators, media and local community leaders about the process of becoming a United States Marine Officer and available career opportunities.

During the Workshop, all questions will be answered openly and candidly by the Marines responsible for making new Marine Officers. Attendees will tour the Marine Corps University and meet Marines who instruct advanced-level academics.

“This workshop is intended to inform the American public of the Marine Corps story,” Captain Adesina  Aladetohun said. “Attendees will experience newfound understanding of the Marine Corps Officer leadership programs for college students and come back eager to promulgate the Marine Corps Officer opportunities to their students and staff.”

“In addition, Mr. Dahlke’s attendance will strengthen the bond between LSU’s Academic Center for Student Athletes and the Baton Rouge Marine Corps Officer Selection Office,” Aladetohun continued. “My office is committed to selecting the best and brightest of LSU student athletes to become future leaders in the Marine Corps and beyond.”

Participants also will witness first-hand the rigorous physi¬cal training processes used to build a Marine Officer from the ground up. Most importantly, the participants will be provided with the information needed to help you and your students make informed decisions about their future.

“I am very excited for Matt to participate in a program of this magnitude,” ACSA Assistant Director Ericka Lavender said. “I think this will be a great learning experience for Matt, and I’m sure he will bring back some good information to share with us as a team.”
