BATON ROUGE – The LSU gymnastics team learned Monday that the Tigers will compete in Semifinal I of the NCAA Championships that starts at 11 a.m. CT on April 20 in Gwinnett Arena in Duluth, Ga.
LSU will make its 23rd appearance at the NCAA Championships, and the Tigers will compete as the No. 11 seed with a national qualifying score of 392.645.
The NQS is determined by adding a team’s regional qualifying score (RQS) and a team’s score in the NCAA Regional meet, so LSU added its 196.570 RQS to the 196.075 the Tigers scored at the NCAA Seattle Regional.
LSU (14-12) will compete against No. 2 seed UCLA, No. 3 Oklahoma, No. 6 Nebraska, No. 7 Utah and No. 10 Stanford.
This marks LSU’s second postseason competition inside Gwinnett Arena this year as the Tigers competed at the SEC Championship on March 24.
For the first time this postseason LSU will not start the meet on the bye before floor. The Tigers open on the bye before bars and then rotate to bars, beam, bye, floor and vault.
The second session begins at 5 p.m. and features No. 1 seed Florida, No. 4 Alabama, No. 5 Georgia, No. 8 Arkansas, No. 9 Oregon State and No. 12 Ohio State.
The top three finishers from each session advance to the NCAA Super Six Finals April 21 at 3 p.m., and LSU seeks its third appearance in the national championship meet. The Tigers advanced to the Super Six in 2008 and 2009.
Tickets can be purchased by logging on to www.TicketMaster.com by calling 800-745-3000. All-session tickets are on sale now for $55 for adults and $40 for youth/students. Single-session tickets will go on sale April 16 and will cost $25 for adults and $18 for youth/students.
