BATON ROUGE – The LSU volleyball team moves into its final weekend of spring competition and returns to the road at the 2nd Annual F.A.S.T. Complex Collegiate Invitational in Houston, Texas. The event will be held inside the Reliant Center’s Hall E and admission is $10.
The Tigers will square off with a trio of LoneStar State opponents in Rice, Sam Houston State and TCU in addition to Oklahoma, a 2011 NCAA Tournament squad.
“We are looking forward to a challenging weekend to complete our spring competition schedule,” head coach Fran Flory said. “Our young team has made some outstanding strides forward in many areas. This tournament will provide a great opportunity for us to see just how well this team has developed.”
LSU celebrated the program’s Alumnae Event and welcomed 24 former players back to campus last weekend.
“Our Alumnae weekend was a great celebration for our program,” Flory said. “Those that were able to return had a great time and were welcomed back into our LSU volleyball family with open arms. Our younger players will benefit from knowing the history of our program and getting to know those who built the foundation.”
LSU has strung together seven consecutive SEC Western Division titles highlighted by the overall league championship in 2009. It’s the second longest streak in SEC history, only behind Florida’s 14-year run on top of the SEC’s Eastern Division from 1995-2008.
The Tigers have garnered a 159-55 record, secured six NCAA Tournament appearances and notched 24 All-SEC selections since 2005.
