BATON ROUGE – Katie Guillory gives fans an update on her injury rehab and what has been the secret to the Tigers season’s best eight-game winning streak in this week’s edition of LSU softball’s “Blogging from the Berm.”
LSU plays host to Arkansas for a three-game weekend series at Tiger Park. Game times are slated for 6 p.m. [Friday], 4 p.m. [Saturday] and 1 p.m. [Sunday].
All three games of the series will have live video, live audio and live stats inside the Geaux Zone on LSUsports.net. The game also will be carried live Country Legends 104.9 FM in the Baton Rouge area with Patrick Wright and Kent Lowe set to call the action.
Fans also can follow every pitch of LSU softball this season via live in-game updates on LSU softball’s social media outlets at www.Facebook.com/lsusoftball and @lsu_softball on Twitter.
As part of Brittany Mack‘s “Geaux Play” initiative, LSU softball is encouraging fans to share the gift of sports with special needs children. Fans can donate new or gently used sports equipment during the remaining LSU softball home games at Tiger Park. For more information, visit LSUsports.net/geauxplay.
All items collected will be given directly to the Miracle League Association and six local schools that Mack will visit during the season. At LSU’s series finale versus Ole Miss on April 22, Mack will invite all the children to the game as her special VIP guests for “Geaux Play” day at Tiger Park.
The LSU Athletics Ticket Office continues to urge season ticket holders to be cautious when separating their bar-coded tickets. The barcode must be attached to the ticket for scanning purposes when arriving at the gate. If the barcode detaches, season ticket holders must stop by the LSU Athletics Ticket Office on the first floor of the Athletics/Administration Building for a reprint of their tickets.
“Hey Tiger Fans,
It’s Katie Guillory here. We picked up a great win against McNeese State last night in Lake Charles. Courtesy of Olive Garden, I ate 6 breadsticks, an oversized house salad, and half of a steak with mashed potatoes all while writing this entry. 🙂
First things first, this season has been absolutely amazing for me besides for my injury. This new coaching staff has made a huge impact on us. I have learned more than I could have ever imagined in such a short time. They are doing positive things for every single player on this team and ultimately for this program. They really make it enjoyable to show up to the ball park every day. Our aim is to keep this focus and momentum that continues to drive us to work hard and make great things happen. The best is yet to come.
As far as my injury, it’s coming along slowly but surely. This ACL rehab is a little more difficult than my one last year. Last year, I tore my left ACL. This February, I tore my right ACL and meniscus. But, I’m not losing hope or determination.
I rehab my knee anywhere from three to four hours a day mainly during the time that the team is practicing. Our head trainer, Ana, and one of our student-trainers, Caitlyn, have me working hard. I do a pool workout almost every day. The only fault in that plan: it is not an outdoor pool so I don’t have a chance to work on this tan. If nothing else, my job this year is to keep these sisters of mine positive and energetic from the dugout. My goal is help the young ones understand the real love for the game and help lead them in the right direction.
This weekend will be an eventful one for Tiger Softball. We host Arkansas, a SEC Western Division opponent. Sunday’s game is our annual “Bark in the Park” game. I myself am a huge dog fanatic! I hope you all can join us this weekend with your cutest four-legged best friends. You also can check out another round of my new fourth inning show ‘Who Wants To Be A Guillionare’ at any of our remaining home games.
I look forward to meeting all of your furry friends on Sunday. I’ll raise my crutches to another amazing weekend of LSU softball.”
Geaux Tigers,
Katie
