BATON ROUGE – While preparing for their outdoor season opener at the Louisiana Classics this past weekend, Lady Tiger pole vaulters Brianne Bergeron and Danielle Garcia-Arnold took time out of their training schedule Friday afternoon to visit the students at Oak Grove Elementary School in Baton Rouge.

They spent time with the fourth and fifth graders and spoke about the importance of education and what it is like to be a student-athlete at LSU both on and off the track.

Bergeron and Garcia-Arnold also played with the kids, while going through a warm-up and teaching them how to line up for a race, how to sprint and how to long jump.

“The kids asked us so many questions about what it took for us to get where we are to be able to be on the team at LSU. They also wanted to know what we studied and how much work it took,” Bergeron said. “It was great to be active with the kids and show them that hard work and a great attitude can get them places in life. We stressed the importance in believing in yourself. We had a lot of fun.”
