BATON ROUGE – The 10th-ranked LSU gymnastics team plays host to West Virginia in the final home meet of the season at 7 p.m. CT Friday in the Maravich Center.
Tickets are still available by logging on to www.LSUtix.net, calling the ticket office at 225-578-2184 or by visiting the first floor of the LSU Athletic Administration Building. Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $3 for youth, ages 3-12.
The meet also represents Senior Night, and the Tigers’ lone senior Ashley Lee will be honored immediately following the conclusion of the meet.
LSU (6-8) enters the meet on the heels of a 196.300-195.700 victory at Iowa last week, and this meet will serve as the final tune up before the Tigers compete at the SEC Championship on March 24.
However, LSU is not looking past a West Virginia team that is fresh off an upset victory at home against No. 9 Arkansas, 195.675-195.125.
Head coach D-D Breaux said she hopes the fan turnout will be as strong as it has been earlier in the season which includes three of the top 20 home crowds in school history.
“If we can get the students to come out and have the same kind of riotous atmosphere that we’ve had at home our last four outings, we are going to be really excited,” Breaux said. “This is going to be a great meet. West Virginia is a good team that is coming in with a lot of confidence.
“We want to go to the SEC Championship and compete like a championship-level team – with confidence and determination. For us to get to that point it has to start Friday night against the Mountaineers, and I believe this team is taking every opportunity we can to find ways to get better.”
In LSU’s last outing, the Tigers put together three solid events with a 49.375 on vault, 49.150 on floor and a 49.125 on bars. Freshman Lloimincia Hall took home her first career vault title with a 9.95, and sophomore Sarie Morrison earned her second-straight bars title with a 9.90.
LSU also received contributions from Rheagan Courville, Kaleigh Dickson, Lainie Fleming, Jessie Jordan, Randi Lau, Lee, Maliah Mathis and Shelby Prunty against Iowa.
West Virginia (14-4) was led by Hope Sloanhoffer and Alaska Richardson who posted a 9.95 on beam and 9.90 on floor, respectively, in the Mountaineers upset win against Arkansas.
