BATON ROUGE – After they posted the second-best home score of the season in a 196.550-194.875 victory against NC State last week, the LSU gymnastics team moved into a tie for ninth place with Oregon State in the newest rankings released Monday by GymInfo.
LSU and Oregon State have matching 196.405 regional qualifying scores (RQS) after the Beavers earned a 195.600 at No. 7 Utah last week.
In the team event rankings, LSU (5-8) remained No. 8 on vault and No. 15 on bars with a 49.275 and 48.975 RQS, respectively. The Tigers slipped two spots to No. 10 on beam (49.045 RQS) and climbed one place to 11th on floor (49.130).
Lloimincia Hall moved into the top five of the floor rankings at No. 5 with a 9.90 RQS after she tied the nation’s best score in the event with a 9.975 against NC State last week.
Three LSU freshmen stayed put in the all-around standings with Rheagan Courville holding on to the eighth spot with a 39.370 RQS, Hall at 14 with a 39.295 score and Jessie Jordan at No. 17 with a 39.255 mark.
For the fourth consecutive week, Courville remained third nationally on vault with a 9.920 RQS, and she also ranked 25th on bars at 9.855. Jordan earned the No. 14 ranking on beam with a 9.865 RQS.
The top three remained the same this week as Florida retained the top spot with a 197.330 RQS, Oklahoma was second at 197.310 and UCLA was third at 197.085. Alabama jumped Georgia for fourth with a 196.925 score to the GymDogs’ 196.915.
Nebraska stayed at No. 6 with a 196.795, Utah at seven (196.555), Arkansas at eight (196.545) and LSU and Oregon State tied at nine to round out the top 10.
With Kentucky jumping into the standings at No. 25, all seven SEC teams appeared in the top 25 this week, including five teams in the top 10. Auburn was No. 16 with a 195.735 RQS.
