BATON ROUGE – Bradie James, his organization Foundation 56 and LSU gymnastics head coach D-D Breaux hosted the “Tailgate for the Fight” Thursday in the Stadium Club inside Tiger Stadium.

The event featured food around the city, a silent auction and a spirited live auction to raise money for Foundation 56’s efforts to fight breast cancer in the local community.

The tailgate served as a warm-up for the Fifth Annual Etta James Memorial Meet that will take place Friday at 7 p.m. CT in the Maravich Center between the 10th-ranked LSU gymnastics team and No. 20 North Carolina State.

The Etta James Memorial committee put together the successful event. Committee members include Annie Alleva, D-D Breaux, Sylvia Duke, Gail Gaiennie, Debbie Heroman, Tammye “Yael” Lofton, Elise Kaufman, Aimee Simon, Lois Stuckey and Sandy Young.

Foundation 56 was founded by James, who lost his mother, Etta, to breast cancer in 2001. Since that time James has made a personal pledge to help in the fight against the disease. James began the Foundation 56/Soul Survivors Fund with the specific purpose of supporting breast cancer awareness and screenings in the Baton Rouge and Dallas communities.
