Hey Tiger Fans

I am writing to you as we come off of a very successful four win-weekend at the Tiger Invitational, which boosted our winning streak up to six games. We had people from every class join me on the Tiger Invitational All-Tournament Team. Senior Morgan Russell, freshmen Rikki Alcaraz and Dylan Supak all swung the bat really well over the weekend, which secured their spots.  Sophomore Meghan Patterson was dominant in her first start of the season on Sunday against Alcorn State. She pitched her way to a career high 13-strikeout performance.

The team had a great week of practice, and we are all very excited to compete against two very talented Big 12 teams, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, this weekend at The Preview. Both teams had appearances in the Women’s College World Series last year.  I know this trip is truly unlike any other we’ve experienced here at LSU.

We will play in three different locations throughout the weekend (Norman on Friday, Oklahoma City on Saturday and Stillwater on Sunday). It is going to be a very competitive and fun weekend, but I guess you could say I am most excited to be playing on the ASA Hall of Fame field in Oklahoma City on Saturday. I am hoping it won’t be the last trip to OKC for this team this year.

Since a lot of us come to LSU from so far away from our hometown, it is going to be very nice to enjoy a home cooked meal courtesy of the Russell family on Saturday night! For those of you Tiger fans making the trip to Oklahoma with us, we wish you safe travels. If not, we look forward to seeing next weekend at Tiger Park for the Purple & Gold Challenge.

Geaux Tigers,

Rachele
