BATON ROUGE — LSU junior swimmer Timmy Dasinger has been named to the 2012 SEC Men’s Swimming and Diving Community Service Team, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Dasinger, a three-time SEC Championship Qualifier, has volunteered in the local Baton Rouge community through out his time at as a Tiger.
“There is not a more deserving student to win this award,” Jade Jenkins, assistant director of the Cox Communication Center for Student Athletes, said. “Timmy truly epitomizes the meaning of a student-athlete here at LSU. He selflessly contributes to the community every chance he gets and is determined to make a difference.”
“Timmy has been an active leader among the student-athletes and will continue to make a lasting impact on the Baton Rouge community.”
The Madison, Miss. native’s service highlights include the Together We Can Food Drive, the Big Buddy Mentor Program, Habitat for Humanity and the BREC “I’m A Good Kid Too” Fest.
Dasinger will return to competition with the rest of the team on Wednesday in Knoxville, Tenn. for the 2012 SEC Championships.
