Six Softball Games Set for SEC-TV Package

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 22 LSU softball team is slated to be featured six times on television for the upcoming 2012 season Wednesday as announced by the SEC office.

A trio of games is part of the SEC on ESPN package, and LSU opens its television schedule with the Alabama series opener on April 6. The start time has been pushed back to 7 p.m. CT to accommodate ESPNU. The Tigers appear on ESPN for the final two games of its Tennessee series. The new start times for those contests are 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. CT, respectively.

For the third consecutive season, all seven games from the SEC Softball Tournament will be televised by the ESPN family of networks. Three of the quarterfinal games and both semifinal games will air on ESPNU. Thursday night’s final quarterfinal game will air on ESPN as well as Saturday’s championship game. The SEC Tournament is May 10-12 at Rhoads Stadium on the University of Alabama campus.

As part of the SEC’s regional television package, LSU’s series finale at Alabama on April 8 has been moved up to 1 p.m. CT in Tuscaloosa. The game will be carried on FSN/Sportsouth.

Both games of the Florida doubleheader on April 24 have been picked up by CSS., and the start time will remain at 4 p.m. CT.

At a later date, LSU will have five home games selected by Cox Sports Television in conjunction with LSU Sports Properties. CST, a regional sports network based out of New Orleans, has access to two million homes across seven states. CST is cable channel 37 and available in HD on channel 1037 in the Baton Rouge market.

LSU is one day away from opening the 2012 campaign and playing host to the Tiger Classic. The Tigers usher in the next chapter of their storied history under first-year coach Beth Torina Friday versus Penn State. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. from Tiger Park. LSU also has match-ups slated against No. 15 Michigan and Louisiana Tech on opening weekend.
