LSU Announces 2012 Softball Promotions Schedule

BATON ROUGE – The LSU marketing department has announced its softball promotions schedule for the upcoming 2012 season at Tiger Park.

Special game-by-game promotions get underway with “Mardi Gras Day” against Southeastern Louisiana on Feb. 21 where the first 1,000 fans will receive a LSU softball bead.

LSU opens the SEC schedule with a doubleheader versus Auburn on March 14. The twinbill will serve as the program’s “Gold Game” and mark of the first of two “Student Point” events.

LSU faculty and staff are encouraged to come out and support the Tigers against Mississippi State on March 16 as part of “Teacher Appreciation Night”. “Alumnae Day” is set for game two of the MSU series on March 17, and the first 1,000 fans will take home a LSU softball drawstring bag. 

“Pack the Park” is on-tap for the Georgia Tech game on March 21. In addition to $1 tickets, the first 1,000 fans can pick up a LSU softball roll banner.

One of the anticipated events at Tiger Park each season is back again in 2012 as LSU plays host to “Bark in the Park” versus Arkansas on April 1. Fans can enjoy a LSU softball game with their furry friends.

“Trading Card Night” is scheduled for April 4 against Nicholls State, while a second “Student Point Game” is slated for April 18 versus McNeese State. The first 1,000 fans at the McNeese State tilt will add a LSU softball drinking stein to their collection.

LSU will “Swing for the Cure: For Ovarian Cancer” when Ole Miss visits Tiger Park on April 21. The first 500 fans will receive “Teal: Swing for the Cure” t-shirts.

Always fan favorites, LSU will hold “Family Day” against Georgia on April 28 where the first 1,000 fans can pick up a LSU softball lapel pin followed by “Senior Day” during the regular season home finale on April 29.

LSU is two days away from opening the 2012 campaign and playing host to the Tiger Classic. The Tigers usher in the next chapter of their storied history under first-year coach Beth Torina Friday versus Penn State. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. from Tiger Park. LSU also has match-ups slated against No. 15 Michigan and Louisiana Tech on opening weekend.
