Reachforthewall.com, an online product of the Washington Post that will track aspiring American Olympic swimmers as they prepare for the 2012 London Olympics, has elected to include LSU junior swimmer Amanda Kendall in its coverage.
Kendall will contribute bi-weekly blog posts regarding her intensive training as well as her experiences throughout the SEC and NCAA postseason.
The posts will be under the subhead ‘Behind the Blocks,’ and will offer readers insight into both the technical and emotional training involved in the pursuit of an Olympic dream.
Kendall exploded onto the international scene at the 2011 Pan American Games where she captured four gold medals.
She competed in three Pan Am Games gold medal relays and achieved Pan Am Games Record Times in the 4×100-meter free (3:40.66), 4×200-meter free (8:01.18) and 4×100-meter medley (4:01.00) relays.
The Fairfax, Va. native also earned a gold medal in the 100-meter free with a lifetime best of 54.75. Her 100-free mark was the seventh fastest time by an American in the 2011 cycle, and put her in position to swim a top-six time at Olympic Trials, which would qualify her for the Olympics.
Kendall is also a 2011 NCAA First-Team All-American as well as a six-time NCAA Honorable Mention All-America.
