BATON ROUGE – Members of the LSU softball team gathered Friday morning to participate in a media training session with Dr. Shirley White held inside the team video room at Tiger Park.
Dr. White, who works with several LSU athletic teams, led all five members of the Tiger freshman class along with sophomore transfer Ashleigh Kuhn through an hour-long session in which she discussed ideas and techniques for the players to follow when conducting interviews with media members.
The six players also were led through mock interviews with Dr. White while answering questions they are likely to face during the upcoming 2012 season. She stressed the proper techniques to use in all settings that include interviews with both print and television media.
Dr. White addressed their appearance in public situations along with the appropriate uses of social media, including Facebook and Twitter.
“Dr. White’s media training was very helpful and easy to understand,” Kuhn said. “She did a great job of explaining many of the different situations that we’ll face this season. I learned so much and feel so confident going forward when it comes to conducting interviews.”
LSU ushers in the next chapter of its storied history under first-year coach Beth Torina versus Penn State on February 10 at the Tiger Classic. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. and the Tigers also have tilts against Michigan and Louisiana Tech on opening weekend.
