Duncan Set for Bowerman Award Presentation

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – As part of Wednesday’s festivities at the 2011 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Convention, the 2011 recipients of The Bowerman will be announced while honoring the top male and female athletes at the collegiate level for their performance this past season.

Lady Tiger junior Kimberlyn Duncan is among three finalists for The Bowerman on the women’s side, as well as Texas A&M sprinter Jessica Beard and Arkansas pole vaulter Tina Sutej.

The 2011 men’s finalists for The Bowerman this year include Washington State hurdler Jeshua Anderson, Florida State star Ngoni Makusha and Florida jumper Christian Taylor.

Now in its third year, The Bowerman is collegiate track and field’s equivalent to the Heisman Trophy and is presented annually by the USTFCCCA to the nation’s premier male and female athlete at the collegiate level each season. This year’s finalists were announced by the USTFCCCA on July 14.

Flotrack will provide a live webcast for The Bowerman ceremony beginning at 7 p.m. CT. In addition, the event features an hour-long preview show for the first time with coverage set to begin at 6 p.m. with the “Flotrack Red Carpet Show at The Bowerman” hosted by Ryan Fenton and Alex Lohr featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the USTFCCCA Convention and The Bowerman ceremony.

National track and field commentator Lewis Johnson of ESPN, NBC Sports and Universal Sports is set to host the evening’s events at the JW Marriott Hill Country in San Antonio, Texas.
