BATON ROUGE – Members of the LSU gymnastics team joined head coach D-D Breaux for the St. Vincent de Paul turkey carving contest Wednesday in Baton Rouge.

Breaux took part in the turkey carving contest while gymnasts Rheagan Courville, Ericka Garcia, Randi Lau and Sidney Sanabria Robles carved turkeys after the contest to help with the Thanksgiving event.

St. Vincent de Paul hosts the annual contest to begin its preparation to serve Thanksgiving dinners to hundreds of local families.

Breaux finished a close second in the contest to District Attorney Hillar Moore, and Breaux was happy to have the extra help from her gymnasts this year.

“Ericka attended this event with me last year, and she had such a great experience that she brought Randi, Rheagan and Sidney along this year to help,” Breaux said.

Breaux, her sister Janey Nasca and the gymnasts carved an extra 30 turkeys after the contest to help in the preparation for Thursday’s Thanksgiving feast at St. Vincent de Paul.

The Tigers will take off for the Thanksgiving break, and practice will resume Sunday as the squad continues preparations for the season opener on Jan. 6 in the Cancun Classic.
