BATON ROUGE – LSU football players Chancey Aghayere, Ryan Baker, Derrick Bryant, Lavar Edwards, Michael Ford, Rueben Randle and Brandon Taylor assisted the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank Wednesday at their Thanksgiving Event.

Albertson’s Grocery Stores donated 417 turkeys to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank to represent every point that the Tigers have scored on the gridiron this season.

“It’s always good to help out the less fortunate,” Aghayere said. “We’re always in town for the Thanksgiving holiday, so I think it’s fitting that we get to give back while we’re here preparing for our next game. Also, this event made me appreciate what I have in life.”

The players packed, loaded up and handed out Thanksgiving meals for the needy. Food provided in the meals also was from canned goods collected from LSU’s Halloween BOOZar and SEC Together WE CAN Food Drive events.

“I really enjoyed this event because I like helping out others that are less fortunate,” Edwards said. “It was also great that we had collected some of this food earlier in the year on campus and got to see it being used by those in need.”

Baker, Bryant and Taylor will be honored as part of Senior Day festivities Friday as LSU meets No. 3 Arkansas. Kickoff at Tiger Stadium is set for 1:40 p.m. CST on CBS.
