BATON ROUGE – Tiger fans are reminded that voting continues daily for LSU Soccer goalkeeper Mo Isom as the winner of the 2011 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award for women’s soccer as she currently boasts a lead of more than 4 percent in the online voting that runs through Tuesday, Nov. 14.
Votes can be cast daily at the official website for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award for women’s soccer at www.seniorclassaward.com and its Facebook page at www.facebook.com/lowesseniorclassaward.
A native of Marietta, Ga., Isom leads a group of 10 finalists in the online ballot with 25.9 percent of the total fan vote as of Tuesday afternoon. Central Florida’s Aline Reis follows closely behind at 21.8 percent and Memphis’ Lizzy Simonin trails in third place with 21.6 percent of the vote. None of the other finalists have received more than 6 percent of the total online vote with just one week remaining.
For a student-athlete to receive consideration for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, she is to be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence, including community, classroom character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete experience, and encourages these students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their respective communities.
The 10 finalists for the 2011 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award for women’s soccer were selected by a media committee on Oct. 5 from the list of 30 candidates announced back in August.
The winner of the 2011 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award will be announced in December during the NCAA Women’s College Cup being held Dec. 2-4 in Kennesaw, Ga.
Isom and her Tiger teammates are preparing for Friday’s first-round match as part of the 2011 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Tournament as they travel to College Station, Texas, to face the No. 3-seeded Texas A&M Aggies with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. CT at Ellis Field. This marks the fourth time in the last five seasons that the Tigers have earned an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament.
