Trick-or-Treating Fun at 16th Annual Halloween BOOzar

BATON ROUGE – Families enjoyed a night of safe Halloween fun at the 16th Annual Halloween BOOzar, held in the Carl Maddox Field house Thursday.

The event allowed children to trick-or-treat with LSU student-athletes, receive autographs and free posters as well as take part in various activities pertaining to each sport.

LSU volleyball provided a child-size net where children could play against student-athletes, while LSU golf set up a small Halloween-themed mini-golf course. Tiger Basketball along with Track and Field took advantage of the facility. The teams used the baskets to host a shooting contest and utilized the track to host sprinting races.

LSU gymnastics provided a low-to-the-ground balance beam for children to walk across and test their skill and balance, while LSU football allowed visitors to test their accuracy as they attempted to throw a ball through the small opening of a wooden cutout of a Tiger player making the catch.

Every sport, aside from the traveling soccer team, as well as the LSU Tiger Girls and Cheerleaders were represented at the BOOZar. Student-athletes were dressed in costumes ranging from mummies to Teletubbies to Snow White, and fans saw Mike dressed in his Halloween best, as he sported a purple and gold Batman costume.

LSU women’s tennis followed an 80’s theme for their table, as they wore neon colors, side ponytails and headbands while playing one-on-one matches against the trick-or-treaters. Ebie Wilson, a junior and 2011 All-Louisiana First Team selection, expressed her excitement in participating with fans.

“The BOOzar is great event,” Wilson said. “It’s a lot of fun every year. We love seeing the kids, signing autographs and handing out candy to them. We really enjoy it.”
