Women’s Tennis Heads to ITA Southern Regional

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The LSU Lady Tigers tennis team begins doubles play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southern Regional on the campus of Samford University on Friday.

Rebecca Bodine, Kaitlin Burns, Olivia Howlett, Ariel Morton, Yvette Vlaar, Ebie Wilson and Whitney Wolf will represent the Lady Tigers in Birmingham.

Vlaar and Morton experienced the Lady Tigers most recent doubles success, reaching the main draw quarterfinals at the Rice Fall Invitational two weeks ago.

The winner of the tournament advances to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, site of the U.S. Open, in New York City on November 3.

“This is a competitive tournament that presents us with a great opportunity to see where we stand and how we can improve,” LSU head coach Tony Minnis said.
 
Doubles play kicks off Friday at 8:30 a.m. CDT with Wolf and Howlett teaming up against UAB’s Caroline Faught and Isabel Fernandez. Burns and Vlaar will face Medy Blankvoort and Monica Winkel of ULM. Morton and Burns will oppose ULM’s Vivian Polak and Isabelle Rocher .
 
Singles play begins Saturday.
