BATON ROUGE – For the fourth straight year the LSU gymnastics team helped host the Wheels to Succeed Bike Race for kids with special needs Saturday near the Carl Maddox Field House.
The McMains Children Developmental Center sponsored the race to benefit children with physical disabilities.
The gymnasts provided a carnival-like atmosphere by blowing up balloons, putting LSU temporary tattoos on the children and encouraging the kids during the race around the Field House.
“Janet Ketchum and her staff at McMains do an incredible job,” head coach D-D Breaux said. “To see the competitive spirit of the kids and how excited they were to get ribbons and trophies was so much fun for our team. It was a great family event for everyone involved, and we love participating in it every year.”
More than 80 children took part in the race using adaptive bicycles, many of which were purchased by McMains.
