BATON ROUGE – LSU’s season opening basketball game against Nicholls State in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Saturday, Nov. 12, will be open to the public free of charge.

The game is part of the second-ever basketball-football doubleheader on the LSU campus as LSU will have its homecoming football game with Western Kentucky that same day.

All season ticket holders will receive a free ticket to the game for their usual reserved seat that they will have all year for LSU men’s basketball game and other seating will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis on game day for the contest between LSU and Nicholls State.

The game time is tentatively set for Noon on Nov. 12 but could be altered depending on the television time for the Western Kentucky which will be announced by the league on Oct. 31. While basketball parking passes will not be in effect for this one game, there will be a shuttle system for fans wishing to attend the game from the parking lots off of Skip Bertman and River Road. That information will be forthcoming once the official game time of both football and basketball has been finalized.

The LSU-Nicholls State game will be the first of 15 home games for Coach Trent Johnson and his Tiger basketball team and precedes a week-long road trip that will take LSU to Conway, S. C., for a rematch with Coastal Carolina (Nov. 15) and then to the Charleston Classic (Nov. 17, 18, 20) where they will face Northwestern of the Big 10 in the opening round.

The first basketball-football doubleheader at LSU came in Nov. 2008 when Hurricane Gustav forced the postponement of the LSU-Troy from September to the same date in November when the basketball game was scheduled.

Season tickets for the 2011-12 men’s basketball season remain on sale to the general public at the LSU Athletics Ticket Office in the LSU Athletics Administration Building and online at LSUtix.net. Season ticket start at $100 for the upcoming season, including a Jan. 28 date with the University of Kentucky. Outside the league the Tigers at home will play Marquette, Boise State, South Alabama and Virginia.
