BATON ROUGE – Not only did the LSU soccer team earn a No. 27 ranking with the latest release of the NCAA’s Ratings Percentage Index on Wednesday, but the Tigers also held their grip on a Top 20 ranking in the latest Soccer America Top 25 for the second-straight week at No. 18 in Wednesday’s publication.
The Tigers have dropped four spots in this week’s Soccer America national ranking after entering the poll for the first time this season at No. 14 in last week’s publication.
LSU has matched its best start in program history in Southeastern Conference play while posting a 10-4-1 overall record with a 5-1 mark for 15 points in conference action to sit in a tie for first place on the league table with the Florida Gators. The Tigers are coming off a split weekend in SEC play as they followed the 2-1 double overtime defeat to Vanderbilt on Friday with a 2-0 shutout of Kentucky on Sunday.
Sunday’s victory over the Wildcats proved historic as it marked the first win by the Tigers in team history in a match played at the Kentucky Soccer Complex in Lexington.
The Tigers look to continue their winning ways this weekend as they head back on the road with a tour of the state of Alabama with SEC West fixtures against Auburn on Friday at 7 p.m. CDT at the Auburn Soccer Complex and Alabama on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Alabama Soccer Stadium.
