BATON ROUGE – In her pursuit of excellence both on and off the soccer field throughout her four-year collegiate career at LSU, senior goalkeeper Mo Isom was selected Wednesday as one of the 10 finalists in the NCAA for the 2011 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award for women’s soccer.
For a student-athlete to receive consideration for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, she is to be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence, including community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete experience, and encourages these students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their respective communities.
The 10 finalists for the 2011 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award for women’s soccer were selected by a media committee from the list of 30 candidates announced in August.
“It’s an absolute honor to have even been nominated for such an amazing award. To have now been named a finalist is not only exciting, but also very humbling,” Isom said. “I hope Tiger Nation can rally together and cast enough votes to bring yet another national honor to our great University. LSU has made me into the person I am today, and I’m so proud that I will always be an LSU Tiger.”
Fans of the LSU Soccer program have the opportunity to cast their votes for Mo Isom as the winner of the award as online fan voting is underway and will be held through Monday, Nov. 14. Fans are able to cast a vote each day for Isom through the Nov. 14 deadline at the official website for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award online at www.seniorclassaward.com and at the award’s official Facebook page. Results of the fan vote will be combined with those of coaches and media to determine the winner.
The winner of the 2011 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award will be announced in December during the NCAA Women’s College Cup being held Dec. 2-4 inn Kennesaw, Ga.
