BATON ROUGE – Entries for teams are being taken for the second annual Maravich Maniacs Dodgeball Tournament to be held in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 4 p.m.

Registration at the PMAC is set for 3 p.m. Oct. 11.

The Maniacs are the official fan support group for LSU basketball and are sponsored by Rotolo’s.

The teams will be made up of five players plus a random LSU basketball player and will take the form of a 32-team bracket event which each of the four brackets having eight teams. The brackets have been named for the four players whose jerseys hang from the rafters of the Maravich Center – Bob Pettit, Pete Maravich, Durand “Rudy” Macklin and Shaquille O’Neal. Each of the teams within the bracket will be named in honor of players who played with them during their time at LSU.

The winner of the 32-team showdown will then have the “honor” of facing Coach Trent Johnson and the LSU Coaching staff in a special challenge match on the main floor of the PMAC. Coach Johnson, who considers his dodgeball skills as legendary, is promising that this year will be different and the student winners will not have as much success as they did last year in the challenge match.

Students may enter complete teams or enter in any number less than five and they will be placed with other students to make complete teams. As of Thursday afternoon, 12 teams have been completed and are ready to go in the brackets.

The winners of the tournament will receive pre-game sideline passes for the Nov. 12 homecoming game versus Western Kentucky.
