BATON ROUGE – The Maravich Maniacs held their initial meeting in preparation for not only the 2011-12 basketball season, but also to begin to secure teams for the second annual Maravich Maniacs Dodgeball Tournament which is set for Oct. 11.
The Maniacs, the official student fan group of LSU basketball, had first crack at entry spots in the 32-team bracket for the event to be held in both the Maravich Center arena and the men’s practice facility. Full details of the event for students will be available Thursday on LSUsports.net.
Despite the rainy weather, a nice crowd came out to make plans for the season and to hear from LSU men’s basketball coach Trent Johnson, who discussed his team which begins official practice on the night of Oct. 14 and opens the season on Nov. 12 with a home game against Nicholls State.
