BATON ROUGE – After being selected the SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday morning, senior Taryne Boudreau was honored as a member of the Soccer America Women’s National Team of the Week on Wednesday as she became the second LSU Tiger this season selected to the squad.
Boudreau has been honored for her performance in leading the Tigers to a perfect 3-0 record last week for scoring five goals and 11 points, including a pair of game-winning goals in a 5-1 win over Mississippi State on Friday and a 3-2 win over Ole Miss on Sunday on the opening weekend of SEC play.
In fact, she scored two goals in each match for an SEC-leading four goals during the opening weekend of league play. Boudreau also added an assist in LSU’s opening night win over Mississippi State to finish up the weekend ranked No. 1 in the SEC in goals (4) and points (9) in conference play. She is the only player in the SEC to score two game-winning goals on the opening weekend of league play.
Not only that, but Boudreau scored the first goal of the match in a 2-1 defeat of the Oklahoma Sooners on Sept. 19 to wrap up LSU’s non-conference slate and spark a perfect 3-0 week for the Tigers. She wrapped up the week with a total of five goals and 11 points in leading LSU’s offensive attack.
Boudreau has provided the spark in LSU’s turnaround in recent weeks as she has scored all seven goals in her senior season during a current seven-game unbeaten streak as the Tigers are 6-0-1 during that span.
A native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, Boudreau joins LSU freshman Jodi Calloway as an honoree on the Soccer America Women’s National Team of the Week this season after Calloway was chosen Sept. 14 after being named the Defensive MVP of the LSU Invitational held three weekends ago.
