BATON ROUGE – For the third week in a row, a member of the LSU soccer program has been honored as a Southeastern Conference Player of the Week as senior midfielder Taryne Boudreau has been selected the SEC’s Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her collegiate career.
Boudreau emerged as one of the SEC’s most prolific scorers with her performance in a weekend sweep of Mississippi State and Ole Miss while leading the Tigers to a perfect 2-0 start in conference play.
Boudreau netted the game-winning goal for the Tigers in each match over the weekend in a dominating 5-1 win over the Bulldogs on Friday night and a thrilling 3-2 win over the Rebels on Sunday afternoon.
In fact, she scored two goals in each match for an SEC-leading four goals during the opening weekend of league play. Boudreau also added an assist in LSU’s opening night win over Mississippi State to finish up the weekend ranked No. 1 in the SEC in goals (4) and points (9) in conference play. She is the only player in the SEC to score two game-winning goals on the opening weekend of league play.
Not only that, but Boudreau scored the first goal of the match in a 2-1 defeat of the Oklahoma Sooners on Sept. 19 to wrap up LSU’s non-conference slate and spark a perfect 3-0 week for the Tigers. She wrapped up the week with a total of five goals and 11 points in leading LSU’s offensive attack.
Boudreau has provided the spark in LSU’s turnaround in recent weeks as she has scored all seven goals in her senior season during a current seven-game unbeaten streak as the Tigers are 6-0-1 during that span.
A native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, Boudreau is the third different Tiger in three weeks selected as an SEC Player of the Week as she joins redshirt freshman defender Jodi Calloway (Sept. 12) and senior goalkeeper Mo Isom (Sept. 19) as the SEC Defensive Player of the Week. Boudreau is the first LSU Tiger to be named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week since Nov. 2, 2009.
