BATON ROUGE – The LSU men’s basketball golf cart was rolling through campus early Tuesday evening visiting a couple of campus fraternities to allow LSU Head Coach Trent Johnson the opportunity to interact with two of the large sororities on the local campus.
Coach Johnson visited with members at the Zeta Tau Alpha house and then visited the meeting of the Delta Gamma sorority that was held in one of the auditorium classrooms in Coates Hall.
At both meetings, he discussed support for the upcoming men’s basketball team and he discussed the second Maravich Maniacs dodgeball event that will be held on Oct. 11. He also threw into the crowd several of the LSU “netheads” stocking hats at both meetings.
“We need you to come out and support us like I know you can. Our men’s basketball team needs your support more than any time,” Johnson told the groups. “We want you to get involved with our program.”
Coach Johnson is scheduled to visit several fraternity houses next Tuesday evening.

LSU will open its 2011-12 season on Saturday, Nov. 12, against Nicholls State in the second-ever basketball-football doubleheader on the LSU campus. The Tigers will have 15 home games this coming season highlighted by non-conference matchups in the PMAC with Boise State, Marquette and Virginia and SEC battles against the five other teams in the SEC West and Kentucky, Georgia and Tennessee from the East in the final year of East-West divisions in men’s basketball.
